Post Diploma Course on “Polymer Science and Rubber Technology
The Indian Automotive industry has flourished like never before in the recent years. Govt. of India in consultation with ACMA & SIAM prepared Automotive Mission Plan (2006-2016), viewed automotive industry as “Locomotive for Growth”. The total turn over will increase from US$ 35 billion to US$ 145 billion and export will increase from US$ 4.1 billion to US$ 35 billion; will generate an additional employment of 25 million. By 2016 the Automotive Industry will contribute 10% of country’s GDP and 30-35% of the industry GDP.
India is also emerging as an outsourcing hub for small passenger cars and automotive components. Global automotive majors like GM, Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, Skoda, BMW, Honda are implementing their expansion plan and identified India as global supplier for specific small car models. At the same time Indian suppliers like Tata, Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, TVS and Bajaj Auto are looking for joint ventures at overseas for setting up manufacturing facilities.
Due to growth of Automotive Industry and Automotive Rubber Component Industry, the demand for technically educated people in Rubber industry has increased substantially.
The rubber industry has been confronting with a crisis, which could be exclusively ascribed to the non-availability of the qualified and skilled technical hands. The dearth of personnel has caused a severe setback to the growth, standardization and up gradation of the industry. Presently
limited number of educational institutes in India are offering degree/diploma course in Rubber Science & Technology. There is an acute shortage of trained rubber professionals in the entire country. Hence, there is strong need to train the existing diploma engineers as per the requirements of the rubber and automotive industries; and latest technical interventions in this field.
Partnering Organizations:
Vidya Bhawan Polytechnic, Udaipur, IRI Rajasthan Branch and HASETRI intend to take a constructive step to resolve the above mentioned human resources crisis by opening-up a Post Diploma course in Polymer Science & Rubber Technology, in order to satisfy an ever-increasing demand for technicians and supervisors to be absorbed on the basis of a time-bound programme.
Syllabus and Examination Scheme:
The IRI, VB Polytechnic and the curriculum development cell of Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Rajasthan have already prepared a syllabus of the aforesaid course keeping in view the industrial needs.
